ABOUT THIS PROJECT

This exclusive residential development of single family dwellings in a dense woodland site was designed by architects Didsbury Manchester, to support a high standard of environmentally sustainable living. The four to six-bedroomed houses are specifically located to ensure minimum impact on existing trees and wildlife, and are made from traditional materials appropriate to the setting

The contemporary design and large areas of glazing mean that the houses feel connected to the immediate surroundings. Gardens fade into the trees, enabling the woodland to form the residents’ private and shared landscapes. A number of houses are positioned dramatically on the edge of the lake and are reached through raised boardwalks threading through the trees. Seven different house types ensure overall contextuality and variety. The proposals include a rigorous tree maintenance programme to preserve the site.
